more adorableness from the 1920s local paper

“We had a good singing Sunday night.

Grape picking commenced in the community this week.

Mr. XXX has finished his well and has about five feet of water.

Mr. XXX has been picking peaches for Mr. XXX, who has some real nice fruit.

A traveling picture show man is tenting around here this week trying to round up a few stray pennies from folks who patronize such attractions.”

And from the weather report:

“All sorts of conjectures have been made as to when the rain will come – but it will most certainly come someday, as it has always rained in Arkansas.”

Gotta love the optimism. And sure enough, as witnessed by this beast of day, it does still rain in Arkansas.

  1. “Hey baby, they call me Mr. XXX. I’ve got some real nice fruit, if you know what I mean.”

I know you’re only protecting anonymity and so forth, but man, if only.

Also, I just realized that “Mr. XXX” (pronounced “Mister Triple-X” would be an excellent name for a porno-super-hero. Oh, crap, or maybe even “Professor XXX,” though that might get Marvel’s lawyers on your ass.
